Solara Providing Remote Communications to the Community of Kuujjuaq

WINNIPEG – Tom Tessier, President, Solara Remote Data Delivery Inc. (Solara) is pleased to announce that Solara has been chosen to provide remote area communications to the community of Kuujjuaq in Northern Québec.

The Hunter Support Program in Kuujjuaq will be distributing Solara Flare devices to the community at a subsidized price to help improve safety and keep people in touch when they are on the land, out of cell phone range.

While community members have been using a VHF system for many years, the population’s near ubiquitous use of cell phones creates new opportunities for SAR prevention and response. The Solara Flare satellite messaging system, for example, allows people to text, send GPS and S.O.S. from anywhere in the world right from your cell phone even when there isn’t any cell service.

Flare units will be distributed as the program rolls out throughout 2023.
