Skylo Satellite Enables SMS Texting and SOS on Next Generation Solara Flare 5G

BARCELONA, SPAIN – Tom Tessier, President, Solara Remote Data Delivery Inc. announces a new era in service and affordability with the agreement between Solara and Skylo Technologies to provide 5G cellular service from space for Solara customers around the world.

“Solara is excited to announce our agreement with Skylo to provide cost-effective coverage to customers in remote areas not served by cell towers. Solara has begun the design effort to create the next-generation Flare using Skylo Cellular 5G from space, a portable satellite extender for your cellular smartphone.”

Vijay Krishnan, Skylo’s Vice President of Strategic Partnerships said “I am happy to meet with Tom Tessier to discuss our strategic partnership here at Mobile World Congress, as there is a real need for what Solara can bring to the marketplace.”

Skylo launched service in 2023, being the first to implement 5G cellular from space.  Skylo’s geosynchronous satellites orbit the earth at the equator to provide service around the world. Next Generation Flare devices will be able to roam seamlessly between Sklylo service areas without any need for the user to make any changes to their phone or SIM card.

Users will use the Solara messaging app to connect to the Next Generation Flare from their Android or Apple smartphone through Bluetooth. Solara’s Flare  combines satellite connectivity with a built-in high capacity power-pack to recharge user’s phones. This unique combination gives users an edge in ensuring they can stay in touch.

“We were impressed with Skylo’s performance when we ran it through a rigorous evaluation.” says Tessier.  “We found that Skylo excelled in providing all of our services, including two-way SMS messaging, GPS location reports and SOS services. The evaluation included integration with our Solara SolAce back-office servers to link field users to telephone networks through the satellite system.”

Solara will be shipping Next Generation Flare and other 5G satellite devices by Q1 2026.
